How To Fix Drag and Drop in VMWare Workstation Pro?

So you have already installed an OS in your VMWare Workstation but it is not really that useful when you could not copy your files directly. In some initial installation of the VMWare, the drag and drop feature might already work but if it is not, read the guide below.

In this case, I have a Mac OS installed in my VMWare Worksation 12.

Step 1. Try installing the VMWare Tools by VM > Install VMWare Tools..., then a reboot is mandatory. Just follow the installation steps. After reboot, one indicator that the installation is successful is if the resolution of your virtual machine changed.

Step 2. If the first step didn't work, try adding a floppy disk. You can do this by switching off the virtual machine first.

Step 3. Go to Edit Virtual Machine Settings

Step 4. Select Floppy Drive > Next

Step 5. Select Use a physical floppy drive > Next

 Step 6. Select Auto-detect and tick Connect at power on. Click Finish.

Step 7.  Power on the machine and re-install the VMWare Tools. You might have to do this twice then reboot again the virtual machine.

Ignore any information dialog, just press OK.

Step 8. After reboot, go to Settings > Options Tab > Enable Drag and drop

Step 9. Try the Drag and Drop feature now. Good luck!

How To Apply for an NBI Clearance Online?

If you are in need of an NBI clearance right away, worry no more because the process is now automated and the pre-registration is all done online.

Just a brief background, before, once you arrive at the NBI office, you will fall in line for a couple of hours then you have to do the registration manually on paper. That'll will take time. And if that is not enough, you will still have to wait another couple of hours to see if you have a "hit". A hit means that some parts of your name or your full name have a match with another individual which has a criminal record. That means, you will still need to wait a week so that NBI can clear your name and you your clearance. You will dedicated a day or if you have hit, two days. Hassle huh?

Well, luckily it is less of a hassle now because the registration is done online. You will sign up in the NBI site entering your personal information and plot a schedule in your preferred branch. This way, before you go to the branch, a "hit" can be searched beforehand. Although, the falling in line part will still take around 2 hours.

Note: You can't apply for a clearance now without an appointment made online.

To apply for a clearance, follow these steps.

1. Proceed to https://nbi-clearance.com/ . The website looks like the below image, if not, do not proceed. Some sites copy government websites to just get your personal information.

2. Register.
3. Log-in.
4. Your profile is displayed. Check if your information are correct. If not, click the Edit Information. If all are correct, click the Apply Clearance.

5. Select a branch.
6. Select a schedule.
7. Select a payment option, then pay your clearance for P115.00. Once your payment is paid, proceed to Transaction.

8. Click Details and print your application form and bring it to the branch of your choice with your valid ID.
9. If you don't have a hit, you will get your clearance the same day.

How To Use GrabTaxi / GrabCar?

An app for social good, that is what GrabTaxi app is. (Although, in my theory this is the cause of the spike in traffic in the Metro because of the high number in car investments as business). A user must first download the GrabTaxi app in Playstore or in Apple Store.

There are four types of services this app offers:

• GrabTaxi
• Grab Express (not yet deployed)
• GrabCar (Sedan)
• GrabCar (Premium)

GrabTaxi

GrabTaxi is a service used by already existing cab companies. To book:

Step 1. Open the app. Make sure that your location services or GPS in enabled.

Step 2. Select GrabTaxi in the option below.

Step 3. Select your Pick up Point and your Destination. Pick-up point is usually automatically detected based on your location but you can customize it by tapping the Pick-up part of the screen.

Step 4. Select the Next arrow icon. Enter Notes to Driver (optional) and Promo Code (optional). Your estimated fare will be displayed also.

Step 5. Tap 'BOOK GRABTAXI' and wait until a driver is assigned to you.


GrabCar (Sedan)

Repeat the steps above but instead of selecting GrabTaxi at the bottom, select GrabCar (Sedan).

GrabCar (Premium)

There are times that you want to view the SpringBoard (What is SpringBoard?) in your PC or Mac, or even control it using your computer.

VNC is an application that helps you achieve that. It allows the user to view the display of the device on the desktop provided VNC is installed in the computer and the device is jailbroken. 

Proceed below for the detailed procedure on how to get VNC and use it.

What you need:

1. VNC installer [download here]

2. Jailbroken device with Cydia on it [How to Jailbreak iOS 5.1]

3. Apple USB Data Cable

3. PC or Mac

Procedure:

1. Download VNC installer that corresponds to your OS. Click the image below to proceed to the download page.

2. On your mobile device, launch Cydia.

3. Go to the Search option. Search for Veency. Install, Confirm and wait.

4. When the download and installation are finished, you can now connect the your mobile device to the computer using the cable.

5. Proceed to the location where you downloaded the installer.

6. Double-click the installer. Enter the IP Address of your device. [ How To Find the IP Address of iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad ]. Enter this IP Address in the field beside "VNC Server:".

7. Click Connect. VNC Viewer will issue a warning if the connection in unencrypted, meaning there is no password for the connection between your device and the computer. 

8. Ignore the warning by clicking Continue.

9. The SringBoard should now appear in the desktop. Control your mobile device using your mouse. Password and other settings can be found under Settings>Veency.

How To Install or Add Fonts ( ttf ) To Windows 7?

Want to add cool fonts to your applications like Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop? Here's how:










1. Download fonts. I recommend dafont.com for they offer a wide variety of fonts that you can choose from. There are also previews of the fonts that you can download.
2. Usually the font is compressed - meaning they are in .zip or .rar format.
3. Uncompress the contents first using Winzip, WinRar or 7zip.
4. Open the extracted folder.
5. Double-click the file with ttf format (this is the font).

6. Select Install located at the top part of the window.
7. You should now see and use your newly installed font from the font drop-down box of your applications.

How to Silent Camera Shutter Sounds in iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad?

Silent Photo Chill
This tweak enables you to disable the camera shutter sounds when taking a picture. Your device must be Jailbroken and have Cydia on it.

Step 1. Open Cydia.
Step 2. Go to the Search option and search for "Silent Photo Chill".

Step 3. Select Silent Photo Chill.

Step 4. Install and Confirm.
Step 5. Wait until the download and installation finishes.
Step 6. Open Winterboard and then tick Silent Photo Chill.

I have not been blogging recently, actually for 4 months because I lost my iPod Touch. It got stolen at MRT Philippines last December. Thus, I have no device to test the tutorials I want to share. How To Update/Upgrade iPod, iPhone, iPad to iOS 5.1 using iTunes

 

This is the latest iOS release of Apple. Below are the steps to update to this latest version.









Requirements:

1. The device you want to update of course
2. iTunes (Latest Version 10.6)
3. USB Cable Connector

Steps:

1. Open iTunes.
2. Connect the device.
3. Back it up. To back up, right-click your device located at the left side of iTunes window then select Back Up. This is done to prevent the loss of your data if something goes wrong and also this back up will be used later for restoring.
4. Select your device again.
5. The Summary of your device should appear. Click Update.
6. If you have not yet downloaded the firmware (iOS 5.1), click Download and Update, if you have, click Update.
7. Wait for iTunes to do its thing (such as verify the software, back up, update then restore).

How to Switch/Power On your Tethered Jailbroken Device When It Runs Out of Power

Tethered jailbreak means that you have to boot tether your device every time it runs out of power or powered off. Below is a series of steps to switch on your tethered jailbroken device when it runs out of power and shuts down. If your device shuts down, you cannot use it until you boot tether it.

Requirements:

1. RedSn0w (preferably, latest version )
2. The device of course

Steps:

1. Open RedSn0w as Administrator. Right-click the RedSn0w icon and choose Run As Administrator.

2. Select Extras. Click Next.

3. Select Just boot. Click Next.

4. Follow the instructions. Power off your device and make sure it is plugged in. Click Next then follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
5. Wait for RedSn0w to do finish, do not do anything to disrupt the process.

6. When the last screenshot appears, you're done.
7. If you experienced problems when entering DFU mode (DFU mode not detected), just repeat entering DFU mode again.

How to Capture Your iPod/iPhone/iPad Screen?

This tutorial will show you how to take a screen capture of your device's screen. The device will then save the screen capture capture under your Photos > Camera Roll storage. It might take a little bit of practice before doing it correctly.

1. Press the Home Button and hold for about half a second then while holding it, press the Lock Button and then simultaneously release both as if you are releasing a shutter button of a camera. Watch video for further demonstration.

How to Show Hidden Files in Your Computer?

Note: This is for Windows, specifically Windows 7.

1. Open Windows Explorer or any folder.

2. Click Organize > Folder and Search Options.

3. A window named Folder Options will appear.

4. Select Show hidden files, folders, or drives instead of Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives.


5. Click Apply button located at the bottom. Now you can see hidden files in the current folder.

How to Find Your Back Ups for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad

If want to access or copy your previous device back ups, just go to the path below.
Note: This is for Windows only. This directory is specifically for Windows 7. Other Windows users might want to look under other folder names in able to go to the exact directory. However, this is more or less the path.

1. Show hidden folders and files first so that you can navigate to the directory. In able to unhide folders, proceed here.
2. And then proceed to this directory
     C:\Users\<YOUR PC NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
3. As you can see, there are many folders with a long string of letters and numbers as the folder name. Just look at the date and time the folder was created under its details to know which one is the latest back up.

How to update to iOS 5 (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) using iTunes?

1. Update iTunes first to the latest version.
2. Plug in your device and sync. It is highly recommended that you back up first your device before updating. After plugging in, a pop will appear informing that there is a latest version of firmware which is iOS 5.0. If there is no pop up appeared, select your device located at the left part of iTunes,

 

and then select Check for Update or Update. It will then prompt you if you really want to update, select update.

 3. iTunes will then start downloading updates. This will take probably 2-4 hours depending on your internet connections speed.
4. After downloading, iTunes will update the firmware of your device to iOS 5. Just wait it to be finished and your done.
