How to Complete Sol Invictus Achievement in Plants vs. Zombies (iPod Touch)

Sol Invictus
Complete Last Stand with 2,000 sun remaining.

Other Achievements:

After several attempts, I finally got it! Yey!

Strategy:

I discovered that the best way to achieve this is to leave the other lanes blank. This can be done by putting Garlic in two lanes on the sides.

1. The list of plants I chose is: Lily Pad, Repeater, Torch, Magnet-shroom, Coffee Bean, Garlic, Tall Nut, Tangle Kelp, and Squash. Below is the initial arrangement of the plants. Note that I still have 150 suns to spare. However, 2,000 sun are required when the fifth flag finished not every end of a flag. You get 250 suns after each flag.

2. The consecutive Garlics are for the  Pole Vaulting Zombies. This will keep them away from eating your Magnet-shrooms which are very important by the way. Keep the Tall Nuts away as possible from the last row so that they would be destroyed immediately.
3. Just replace the Garlics when eaten.
4. As you continue and gain more sun, add two other Repeaters and two Magnet-shrooms. The final arrangement of plants is shown below.
5. You can use the Tangle Kelp and Squash for emergency. :)

  1. I made a slight variation on this, the first time I tried with your method I ended up with 2000 sun just after the start of wave 5 and then died on the final zombie of the wave.

    Instead I did:

    First line: same as you
Second line: same but added a tallnut at space 4
Third line: blank, blank, blank, blank, magnet, garlic, blank blank garlic
    Fourth line: same as you
Fifth line: same as line 2
    Sixth line: same as you

Also, you can set up all of this before stage one, it doesn't matter if you drop below 2000 as long as you end wave 5 with 2000 sun.

  2. Yes, yes that's true. You only need 2000 sun after the end of the fifth wave. I add an allowance always just in case. :)

Thanks for the comment and another strategy!

  3. Thanks Pyroneus! That worked! Just had to replant the garlic every now and then, maybe a lily pad when I didn't see it get eaten away, and won with a few hundred sun to spare! :)

  4. I have a much easier way of obtaining this achievement using 2 garlics on lane 2 and 5 followed by 4 gloom shrooms. In the remaining lanes all that is needed is a single snow pea to the very rear. Tangle kelps are not necessary, but squashes need to be used from time to time for football zombies. I usually end up w/ 2300-2400 sun.

  5. Thanks for that! That is really much easier but I modified your formation also. I added Magnet-shrooms so that I would not worry about the Football zombie anymore. Thanks much!

  9. lol i used a pretty dumb way after failing several times. but it worked find for me. somehow garlic didn't come to my mind. i used 6 water melons with 2 winter ones and depended to the atomic bomb mushroom to pull through the stages. xD

  10. Hey, I have a probably dumb question for you, but how do I select my own plants in a Last Stand level? I always get the same ones. The only level in which I can select my own plants is in the Last Stand Endless, but by your comments, it seems that you just have to survive the normal 5 flags with 2000 suns remaining. I have the iPad version, I don't know if that' got something to do. Well, I'd appreciate a little help from anyone. Thanks!

  11. I had the same question and finally found an answer. There are two different Last Stand games. One is under Puzzle games. This is the game pack that has day, night, pool, fog, and roof levels where you're always given the same plants. It also includes Endless mode. The other is under Mini games. It's just called Last Stand. This is the one where you get to choose your own plants and where you can earn the Sol Invictus achievement. I hope this helps!
